The SPML studio is a private home studio in the West Seventh/XCEL area. This studio serves voice and piano of all ages. Voice students range in age from 9 through 60, with varied skill levels and interests. Some students are here for basic vocal instruction and some study voice to help them in their semi-professional singing careers. All ages and abilities welcome.
Piano students begin as early as age 5 and sometimes as late as age 50. Currently, there are 35 piano students taking weekly lessons.
Our voce students have gone on to St. Olaf College, Berklee College of Music and AMDA, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
This studio is also our home, an 1890 Victorian that has been updated to serve as our workplace. We live with two Siberian Huskies-Yuri and Miska, who love music as much as we do. Joseph has a voice that can fill concert halls. The names Verdi, Caruso and Puccini are constantly being flung about as thought he knows them personally. When he's not singing, he's enjoying playing classical, popular music of the century, or just improvising on the piano for fun. Sara has performed traditional Irish music, German art songs, participated in musical theater and operas and has sung almost everything in between. She hosts a monthly book club, runs 5K's, attends classical concerts and only shops at second-hand stores. She previously worked for a singing telegram company, and has sung "Happy Birthday" in every suburb and surrounding area of the Twin Cities.
